I love Photoshop! I could spend hours (and often do) just playing with photos that I have taken, some of them as long as 20 years ago. I discovered this website, Pugly Pixel, yesterday, and had some fun with one of their free downloads. The subject is my granddaughter, a photo taken about 4 years ago. She is intently drawing in her sketch book. She and her older sister are both very artistic, and we had a great time in early April taking a Chinese Watercolor class together in Maryland. We also spent one whole day creating Easter cards with rubber stamps, watercolor pencils, embossing powder, stickers and more. I love doing artwork with my grandchildren....I just wish they all lived closer to me so we could do that more often.
The background of this photo was created in Photoshop using one of my pictures of a hibiscus to begin with. the flourish is a brush from Cottage Arts. They have great digital scrapbooking papers, brushes, blends and more.
you did a fantastic job, Jacque -- this is beautiful, as is your granddaughter! i love her red macaron hat, too. :D
i'm going to add this to my list. thanks much!

I love this photo of your granddaughter atop the cookies! Remember me? We sat next to one another at Yolanda Koh's Chinese brush painting class. We enjoyed painting the bamboo but the chrysanthemums really appealed to me so I painted the "wallpaper" piece with chrysanthemums all over it. Well, my daughter liked it so much that I had it framed and it's now hanging in my granddaughters' room.
I haven't done any Chinese brush painting but I have been painting plein air at Cylburn, an old Baltimore mansion with beautiful grounds. Do you paint outdoors?

Sure I remember you! That was a fun class. I haven't done much of the Chinese painting either. I have been doing a lot of digital stuff, mostly for other people. I am working on two book covers for a man here in town, and changing the logo for my sister's bed and breakfast in Cumberland, MD. She also wants me to do some other things for the B & B, involving collage. I haven't done plein air painting in years. I do enjoy it though.
Good to hear from you!
